How many times can you take the SAT?
You can take the SAT as many times as you want — there’s no limit to the number of attempts. College Board generally recommends taking it at least twice to maximize your score.
What is the highest possible SAT score?
The highest possible score on the SAT is 1600.
It’s made up of two section scores:
- Reading and Writing: 200–800
- Math: 200–800
Can you take the SAT after high school?
Yes. There is no age limit for taking the SAT. Whether you’re a gap-year student, a transfer student, or an adult learner, you’re eligible to register.
How many questions are on the Digital SAT?
The Digital SAT has 98 questions total:
- Reading and Writing: 54 questions (27 questions per module)
- Math: 44 questions (22 questions per module)
What calculator can you use on the Digital SAT?
You can use the built-in Desmos graphing calculator provided within the Bluebook™ app or on The SAT Crash Course platform, which also allows you to practice using it ahead of time before test day.
You may also bring your own approved handheld graphing or scientific calculator — check the official College Board calculator policy for specifics.
When do SAT scores come out?
Scores typically release within 2–3 weeks after your test date.
- SAT Weekend: If you test on a Saturday, expect scores about 10 business days later.
- SAT School Day: If you test during school, scores usually come out about 2 weeks after your testing window ends.
How long is the SAT?
The total testing time for the Digital SAT is 2 hours and 14 minutes.
Including the mandatory 10-minute break, the entire experience takes about 2 hours and 24 minutes.
- Reading and Writing: 64 minutes (32 minutes per module)
- Math: 70 minutes (35 minutes per module)
What is the SAT registration fee?
For test dates beginning August 2025, the SAT registration fee is:
- SAT registration fee is $68.
- For students taking the test outside the United States.$68, plus a $43 international fee total $111.
